medQ Installs New Teleradiology System at RCM

Plano Texas-- medQ, Inc, a leading provider of EHR driven radiology workflow solutions has installed their state of the art, customer interactive teleradiology solution at Radiology Consultants of the Midwest (RCM). RCM is a leading radiology group based in Omaha, Nebraska with multiple clients throughout the state; including hospitals and outpatient imaging centers.

With their business growing at a fast pace and their referring physicians having rising service expectations; RCM knew they had to do something. To solve these immediate issues and prepare for their future growth, RCM installed medQ's Q/ris Reading Services Solution (RSS) fully integrated with the Reporting PLUS+ voice recognition driven reporting software. This was installed with Aycan Medical Systems as part of a fully integrated RIS/PACS imaging solution.

The Q/ris RSS automatically processes all images sent to RCM, automatically generating new orders then matching these to the PACS images to create a single, integrated worklist for the radiologist. Using the Reporting PLUS+ dictation program, the RCM radiologists can create, sign and distribute reports in minutes rather than hours or days. The Q/ris distributed, flexible architecture allow anyone in the group to access the system at any time, from any location.

This RSS solution also supports improved bidirectional communications between RCM and their sending sites through the deployment of their unique site admin/QC app. This app is deployed on site and provides the sending site the capability to edit/modify the order, add documents via scanning or direct eDocument import, and converts these documents to DICOM and stores them with the image. This process ensures data is immediately available to the radiologist to improve the quality and integrity of the data for the radiologists, which can have a direct impact on patient safety. Radiologists can also return the exam to the site for further work for those studies which are not complete, or may be missing data. All this is done electronically. Once the report is finalized, and automatically distributed via email or fax, all patient history is stored not only at RCM but real time available to the sending site as well.

The Q/ris 3000 is fully featured and bidirectionally integrated with MMC's PACS and AllScripts hospital information system. This solution provides a complete and seamless workflow solution from patient registration in the center to final report distribution.

With the Q/ris 3000 MMC is able to automate the entire patient experience. This includes automating the entire scheduling process and the technologist's workflow including DICOM MWL functionality. The addition of eForms module MMC would support MMC putting their front desk and technologist worksheets on line providing the capability to create a virtually paperless operation.

Upon final signing, the report is automatically distributed back to the HIS or faxed to speed the process of report turnaround.

"Deployment of this solution has really helped MMC improve the overall efficiency and productivity of our imaging process," said Bradley Jordan, MMC PACS Administrator. "we have a very modern facility and the Q/ris 3000 workflow will be a key part in providing first class service delivery to our community," Bradley went on to say.

medQ to attend RSNA 2015

Plano, Texas medQ, Inc. is pleased to announce that they will be attending RSNA 2015, Booth 1850! "We are looking forward to being a part of this year's show and will be showcasing our latest innovations in radiology workflow technology," said John F. Norman medQ, Inc. CEO.

Our new Reporting PLUS+ is an enhanced radiologist's report creation and referring physician's communication tool. We take seriously the power of partnership and these new products enable that power. Our new offerings include an enhanced close loop critical test results module, structured reporting and peer review. Coupled with our interactive physician's and patient portals and universal connectivity tool communications among all the parties will be significantly increased.

Secondly, our EHR driven, fully paperless and automated workflow solution will also be on display. The Q/ris 3000 is a Stage 2 MU certified ambulatory workflow; designed to meet the needs of todays and tomorrow's imaging center needs. To date, we have over 100 radiologists set up and using the EHR alone and can attest for over $4,000,000. In addition over 150 sites are using this integrated end to end solution.

Third, the introduction of our updated teleradiology module. This allow an unlimited number to sites to be brought in and integrated into a single, universal dictation and report distribution worklist. What makes this work is that each site has their own protected data, accessible by the site 7x24, and orders are generated via an automated order generation program, or via HL7. Distribution to these sites is automatic via email, fax or HL7. The truly unique and workflow enhancement portion is that there is an interactive app to connect the radiologists and the sites to edit the order, upload documents and even have the radiologist return the study for additional work. All of this creates a highly efficient workflow with significantly improved turnaround times.

We also recognize that bottom line improvements are a critical issue to radiologists. The Q/ris 3000 is fully ICD10 compliant. The introduction of our Patient Balance Calculator lets the imaging center know exactly how much the patient should bring to be paid in full for the exam reducing the need to calculate later and improve cash flow.

Visit our booth at 1850 South hall, or contact us at to set up an appointment.

medQ Makes EHR Implementation Hassle free! (June 2013)

There is a misconception among radiologists that implementing an EHR is complex, too much of a hassle and the requirements are not relevant to their specialty. The Q/ris 3000 EHR is designed specifically for radiologists and our integrated workflow and experienced implementation team take the hassle out of deployment and qualifying for EHR incentive payments.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Imaging in Oklahoma has implemented medQ’s EHR and qualified to receive their incentive payment. Landmark Imaging and California Diagnostic Imaging in California have received their incentive payments along with other medQ customers.

For the diagnostic imaging center, choosing an EHR vendor that specializes in the radiology market is key to having a smooth, flawless, hassle free implementation. “The Q/ris 3000, a fully meaningful use certified EHR, has met with 100% success from CMS. Every radiologist who has used the medQ system has successfully attested with CMS for their 2012 work and has qualified for $1.2 million in incentive payments. Customer Support Is A High Priority at medQ (May 2013)

Jason Pugh Jason Pugh, Customer Support and QC Manager
For busy imaging centers and radiologists, a glitch in the system can be very frustrating and impact customer care and operational effectiveness. For this reason, it is essential that your workflow management software be very stable and have support available 24/7, if needed. A major complaint we hear from radiologists and imaging center employees about many vendors is the length of time it takes to hear from support, often being 48 to 72 hours after contacting them. Clearly, in today's fast paced environment this is unacceptable.

Fortunately for our clients, the Q/ris 3000 platform is a very stable and dependable suite of products, with up time consistently over 99%. For those cases where there is a need to engage our support team, we have a support system in place to meet our customer's needs around the clock.

The start of a good support team is employees who are not only qualified, but care. The medQ support team is not only highly trained and experienced but each person cares and understands the value of putting the customer’s needs as the top priority. Problem solving time is usually short as our experts are proficient in diagnosing and solving any software issues with our products. Each staff member has been trained in trouble shooting medQ applications and the environments within which they operate. With our support team you will find response times in hours, not days!

Another major strength of the medQ software is that we own 100% of the software and have our own development and programming team on staff. Our support team has a mutual working relationship with the QC and development teams. It’s common for a typical support team to be isolated from QC and development teams, especially when much of their program is from a third party. The strength of medQ’s support staff works closely with these teams and has access to them daily. This relationship often drastically reduces the turnaround time from the problem analysis to resolution.

Speaking of relationships, the core of what medQ support is about is the relationship with the customer. Customers continually rave not only about the fast response time and knowledge of medQ support but about the interaction with the support team. The support staff understands the critical nature of the work that the imaging centers and radiologists are doing, understand their sense of urgency and make themselves open to needs the customer may have such as working an issue after hours.

With the radiologist and their patient’s care in mind, we have designed a support system that provides a user friendly technology in which our customers have several options to address their needs. We include multiple ways for the customer to get support in whichever manner fits their needs. Included in these are:

  • Email which is constantly monitored by multiple technicians
  • Phone support, including a 24/7 hotline for emergency technical after hour’s needs
  • Online End User Portal – End users can create their own tickets and monitor the status as they are worked by medQ support. (STAY TUNED,COMING SOON!)

As they say, a whole is only as good as the sum of its parts. medQ support has the pieces in place to give the type of support our customers and their patients deserve.

(July 2012, Dallas Texas) – medQ, Inc. Q/ris 3000 Electronic Health Record (EHR) module has received the federal government’s “meaningful use” stamp of approval by earning complete EHR module certification. The designation officially deems the electronic health record (EHR) software capable of enabling providers to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program, the EHR software is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

“The certification validates that our software can help providers take part in the electronic revolution that is reverberating across the healthcare industry. Healthcare providers can now leverage our software to not only make significant care improvements but to also achieve meaningful use and qualify for incentive funds under ARRA. We are proud to offer providers the opportunity to truly improve care in their communities,” says John F. Norman, CEO.

Drummond Group’s ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that EHRs meet the meaningful use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using the EHR systems of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal stimulus monies upon demonstrating meaningful use of the technology -- a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers. The Q/ris 3000 EHR module which met the requirements for Ambulatory markets is a fully integrated component within the Q/ris 3000 workflow. “The need to leverage information technology in the healthcare industry is huge – as the quality of care and efficiency benefits that come with computerization can really make a difference in the overall patient experience. We’re ready to help transform the industry by providing the sophisticated software testing services that ensure that vendors and hospitals are offering systems that are capable of meeting the meaningful use standards required to obtain incentive funds as well as the rich functionality required to move the clinical care needle forward,” says Rik Drummond, CEO of the Drummond Group.“We have been testing software for more than a decade and are ready to leverage our extensive experience handling sophisticated systems in complex industries as well as dealing with complicated technical issues such as interoperability and security.”

This EHR Module is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by Drummond Group, an ONC-ATCB approved to certify any complete or modular EHR both ambulatory and inpatient, in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Critical Test Results Management Version 2.0 Goes Live (February 2012)

By Rick Fiala, Implementation Services/GE Partner Manager, medQ, Inc.

medQ's Version 2.0 of the Q/ris Critical Test Results Management (CTRM) Module is now live at Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca, NV! We are looking forward to receiving feedback from HGH's Administrative personnel and their Radiologists as we prepare to begin development on version 3.0 of the CTRM Module.

Q/ris CTRM V 2.0 Module provides a more automated process for the radiologist to create a CTR Notification. It also allows the Radiologist to classify a CTR Notification as life-threatening (Red), Serious but not life-threatening (Orange) or Unexpected such as a pulmonary nodule (Yellow). In addition to these new features - this module captures contact methods, delivery verification documentation and any additional details of the communication and saves them to the permanent patient record. When communication of the CTR is confirmed a statement of CTR communication confirmation is appended to the final report, and the report is re-distributed to the ordering physician.

Users will have access to a CTRM Worklist that displays all CTR's that have not been communicated to the ordering physician. Administrative personnel and/or radiologists can follow-up to ensure positive communication.

HGH Administration will have access to a suite of Management Reports that can be run real time in minutes. Confirmation methodology such as contact information, ordering physician name, radiologist or administrative staff member confirming communication are captured and saved to the patient's permanent record. Users also have the ability to report on turnaround times from any step in the process beginning at patient arrival, through CTR communication confirmed.

PRACTICE MATTERS: Teleradiology Business Benefits from MedQ Solutions, Imaging Economics (May 2008)

By Elaine Sanchez

ImagingEconomics.com, May 2008

Four years ago, health care workflow solutions provider MedQ, of Dallas, changed the entire architecture of its RIS platform to accommodate more complex ordering information.

Its Q/ris 3000 Reading Services Management (RSM) System enables radiologists to create a single, consolidated worklist from a number of sites, from single modality centers to large hospital networks. Images, both digital and film, are automatically integrated into a seamless multivendor system, allowing radiologists to look at a single screen and read for a variety of imaging facilities.

"What we wanted to do was make it easy for doctors to take exams from multiple locations," said John Norman, the company's CEO. For a company like Tennessee-based Mid-South Imaging and Therapeutics, PA. (MSIT), which operates a sub-specialized teleradiology bu

siness, the Q/ris was exactly the flexible solution the group was seeking to relieve staffers of time-consuming manual processes.

"As more physicians began placing MRIs, ultrasounds, and CTs in their own offices, they needed someone to read the images, and they would contact us,"said Melanie Fite, director of operations and marketing at MSIT, where she has worked for the past 15 years. "We needed one location to store all of our radiology reports and a solution that allowed us to track their progress and reduce turnaround time."

Fite estimates that the teleradiology group reads 5300 exams a month from 20 different medical groups around the region. MSIT, with its group of 30 radiologists, provides services to Baptist Memorial Healthcare, in the metropolitan area of Memphis, Tenn. A computer and Internet access are all that is required for one of the group's radiologists to access a worklist. The RSM offers data capture, editing, and electronic scanning, and it allows for both on-site and remote report creating using either digital dictation or voice recognition. "With our system, all a physician needs to do is sign on to the server and start dictating," Norman said. "We can send the dictation automatically to multiple locations, depending on where the individual wants it."

Fite said that since there are fewer manual processes, there is a lot less room for error. Data is captured once, at the source, and then the information is put into a complete reading package. One of the biggest benefits of the system, she continued, is that it distributes reports automatically. Some of the clinics want the reports faxed, Fite explained, while others prefer them encrypted in e-mail as a PDF. Sometimes, the client even requests that reports are placed directly into its server. "All of these processes, which we ourselves performed manually, are now automatic," Fite said.

The Q/ris 3000 Reading Services Module is available as an integrated part of the Q/ris 3000 Enterprise Workflow Management System or it can be purchased as a stand-alone program to support the needs of radiology reading services. This flexibility was something that MSIT particularly enjoyed in the intuitive solution. Fite said that the group didn't need an entire RIS with registration and patient schedule offerings. Essentially, MedQ was willing to sell them half of its system.

"They were so flexible and accommodating, especially with our customers," Fite said. "They were willing to work with us on a per-clinic basis."
